What Did Paul Preach?

On this episode, Shane Rosenthal continues his conversation with Dennis Johnson on the content of the earliest Christian sermons that we find throughout the book of Acts. This week the discussion centers on the messages proclaimed by the Apostle Paul on his various missionary journeys. Dr. Johnson is the author of Let’s Study Acts, The Message of Acts in the History of Redemption, and Journeys with Jesus: Every Path in the Bible Leads Us to Christ.

One of the Holy Spirit’s purposes for the sermons in the Book of Acts is to teach us how to read the Old Testament scriptures the way Jesus taught his apostles. In Luke 24 and up through Acts 1, His resurrection and appearances also teach us how to read the Old Testament scriptures the way Jesus taught his apostles, and the way the apostles then began to preach it. The Epistles do the same thing. Hebrews does the same thing. They all teach us how to read the Bible.
