Hosts Michael Horton and Adam Smith travel to Nairobi, Kenya, for Sola Media’s annual Theo Global Symposium. While there, they met with local pastors Ken Mbugua and Joshua Lemaiyan from Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Ken is the Managing Director of Ekklesia Afrika and Joshua is a lecturer at the Nairobi Institute of Reformed Theology. In this discussion, the hosts and guests explore the unique challenges and commonalities of pastoring in Nairobi and America. They candidly explore the unique challenges and commonalities of pastoring in Kenya and America and delve into the need to integrate theology and worship in order to build solid foundations in the local church.

- Michael Horton is White Horse Inn’s founder and co-host. In addition to serving as a J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary California, he is a minister in the United Reformed Churches. He is the author of more than 30 books.
- Adam Smith is the Chief Operating Officer at Sola Media and has led the Theo Global project since 2015. He has spent much of his career working closely in partnership with churches and church leaders in the non-Western world. Adam is a minister in the Presbyterian Church of America. He served as Managing Editor for the forthcoming Theology Together volume Prophet, Priest, and King: Christology in Global Perspective (Zondervan Academic).
- Ken Mbugua serves as Senior Pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church and is the Managing Director of Ekklesia Afrika. He has an undergraduate degree in Bible from Central Africa Baptist College in Kitwe, Zambia. He has a passion for missions, expository preaching, and a love for Christ’s Church.
- Joshua Lemaiyan serves as Associate Pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
